Hello! Wallis Cottage is an artist's cottage filled with colour, creativity and comfort! It was built in the late 1700s and may have seen for its own eyes the Last Invasion of Britain when the French sailed in and attacked Lower Fishguard Harbour in 1797 (they didn't win, but they did stay around, I'm told!). The cottage has been lovingly restored as an artist's cottage and all the work on the walls is for purchase as original paintings or archival lithograph reproductions. So if you love the arts, the sea, the Welsh landscape, and history, Wallis Cottage is for you! The artwork on the walls will be changing with the seasons as I like to give our cottage different feels according to the weather and the light. When the sun shines it has loads of light and in the winter it is particularly cosy, or "cwtch" as is said in Welsh language. It has 2 living rooms, one contemporary and one more traditional and 2 big bedrooms, a lovely dining room and kitchen stocked with wine for purchase and a quirky completely private little raised terrace garden (and 2 baths, one a water closet and the other with tub and shower).
Hello potential guests! Do you love colour? Design? Art? Modernist decor? Then Wallis "Artist's" Cottage is just that! I am an illustrator and expressive arts practitioner and everything in our cottage has been individually chosen for your visual delight and bodily comfort. A place to welcome you to the land of the Last Invasion of Britain (1797 by the French!) and to both rest and rejuvenate in one of coastal Pembrokeshire's most lovely and precious places. Celtic and Medieval art tours are available for trips to St. Davids Cathedral and surrounds as well as Creative Respite Workshops held in the garden or the beach during your stay with us in Fishguard, led by Deborah, host/owner. Please just enquire about the creative options when booking! Thank you! Diolch yn fawr!
It is a quiet neighbourhood. The rear garden is private so you don't need to worry about peering neighbours. Everything is in walking distance, coffee houses, pubs, one of the top 50 fish and chip bars in the UK, a fantastic book store, a gallery and grocery stores, and a farmer's market. Theatre Gwaun is a wonderful old movie theatre in walking distance with showings every night and a matinee on Mondays.
