I have been looking after the 4 properties on the Big "W" Ranch for 7 years now and I want to wish you a very warm welcome to Scafell Cottage page. I would not want to live anywhere else as the views and peacefulness are unsurpassed in the Lake District. We are a Pure Race Spanish Horse Stud and Western Horse Ranch, but we also have a few Alpacas from Peru along with some Highland Cattle. We hope to see you here soon ! Welcome to the Big "W" Ranch where Western horses and Cowboys run free... We have 3 separate cottages all on the same site on the mountainside. The Rivera Family welcomes you . Scafell Cottage, Wastwater and Windsor Cottages are accessed without steps. The cottages all contain one large King Bed (super king in Windsor Cottage)and two single beds . Sofa, TV, dining table and Kitchen. Bathroom is en suite shower, toilet and sink. Amazing views of the Wasdale Valley. Quiet setting and ideal for walking or access to local beaches, mountains and lakes. Very close to Scafell Pike and Wastwater Lake. The Ranch is the home of The Rivera Andalusian Horse Stud; for Pure Spanish Horses with horse stables and Alpacas close by. We now provide a Tassimo Coffee maker so if you have your favourite blend bring along your pods. We welcome dogs but no other pets allowed , but with strict rules and regulations. All dogs must be pre booked , declaring the breed and age of the dog. We do not allow large dogs or any pure or hybrids of German Shepherd, Doberman, Bulldogs of any kind. No puppies or dogs under 6 months of age. You must agree that dogs will not be allowed at any time on furniture or beds or off a lead. We enforce our rules strictly. Guests arriving without declaring the dog in advance will not be given access. Please do not book if you cannot abide by our rules regarding dogs. We have horse riding on site and hire out paddleboards for use on the lake.

Guests will come here to access the most dramatic areas of the World Heritage Lake District , Wasdale is renowned for having the Highest mountain in England , the deepest Lake in England, the smallest Church in England and was voted the most beautiful view in England. We have some great local inns to eat and drink, just a short 2 minute drive down the valley. the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is a short drive away and the beaches at Seascale and Drigg have miles of golden sands and are quiet and natural. Horse riding around the area can be arranged with adequate notice from total beginners to experienced catered for. Max Group size is 4 and minimum of 1 .
