Beer is a picturesque East Devon seaside village overlooking Lyme Bay, located just over one mile west of the coastal town of Seaton. Set within the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, the village is famed for its dramatic white cliffs, including Beer Hear, and its position along the South West Coast Path, making it a popular destination for walkers and nature lovers. Beer also benefits from a selection of independant shops, galleries, cafes and traditional pubs, all within easy walking distance. Regular bus services connect Beer with Seaton, Sidmouth and Exeter, making it east to explore the wider East Devon area without a car.
Visitors can explore the fascinating Beer Quarry Caves on a guided tour, discover local history and craftsmanship, or enjoy a family day out at Pecorama, home to a delightful narrow-gauge railway, award-winning gardens and stunning sea views. Keen walkers can embark on a moderate 4-mile coastal walk along the South West Coast Path through the breathtaking Hooken Cliffs, offering some of the finest coastal scenery in the region.
Only 1.5 miles away lies the traditional town of Seaton, a charming fishing harbour and civil parish nestled between Axmouth and Beer. Facing Lyme Bay, Seaton offers excellent access to the Jurassic Coast, with a mile-long predominantly shingle beach backed by a scenic sea wall, perfect for gentle strolls, cycling and enjoying the coastal views. The small harbour, mainly located in the Axmouth area, adds to the town's seaside charm.
