Company info

Orr family opened the Gigilos Hotel in 1992. We have been beekeepers and shepherds for many generations. We enjoy hiking 'our' mountains, fishing and Cretan music.

Gigilos hotel is located in the village of Agia Roumeli of Sfakia, which has been described as a place of ''magnificent natural beauty''. The sea view, the dramatic, peaceful scenery and well-known Cretan hospitality promise you an unforgettable experience in our accommodations.

Neighborhood info

Agia Roumeli is the small coastal village in southwest Crete that you reach after walking through the Samaria Gorge. The village is not connected to the road network, but you can reach it by ferryboat from Sfakia, Sougia and Paleochora; or, you can walk! Agia Roumeli is a unique place that combines wide, open sea with steep mountains. This allows Agia Roumeli to offer magnificent and totally different sources of activities. Visitors can hike in the surrounding mountains, go snorkeling, fishing or simply relax on the pebble beaches. The most significant sights to enjoy are: the Samaria Gorge, the longest and most beautiful gorge in Europe, the E4 mountain path that extends east and west of Agia Roumeli, the castle of Agia Roumeli, the Byzantine church of Saint Pavlos, the Byzantine church of Panagia, and the peaks and gorges of the White Mountains, including the peak of Gigilos.
