Another must-see in the area is the Patrick Leigh Fermor’s house (1.4km), the well-known travel writer. You will be able to see one of the most beautiful houses, built in local architecture. As Partick Leigh Fermor said: “Passing-by you observe Mani in 3 days, walking in 3 months and in order to see its soul you need 3 lives. What is mention worthy is that one of them is the old palace of the famous Mavromichalis family. Promising a time-travel experience with its stone-built towers, the traditional settlement of Vatheia (69 km) in Mani lies on the top of a hill, offering astonishing views. On your way there you can also stop to Gerolimenas (61 km), a traditional picturesque fishing village.
