Four retreats in front of the beach. Ostraco Houses sit directly on Pachena beach, on the quieter eastern side of Milos — a small residential cove with a handful of local families, the sound of the sea, and very little else. That is precisely the point. The beach is at your door, and the pace is entirely your own. We strongly recommend arriving with a rental car or a quad. It is the single most important thing you can do to make the most of Milos — the beaches, the villages, and the experiences that make this island what it is are spread across the coastline, and having your own wheels makes all the difference. We are happy to recommend local rental companies and can assist with arrangements if needed. Upon your arrival, please collect the key from Santa Maria Hotel in Adamas. We will then accompany you to Ostraco Houses.
Pachena itself is a quiet residential area — there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance of the property. There is a bus stop a short walk up the street, which connects to Adamas and from there to most parts of the island, but the schedule is limited and the island rewards spontaneity. Pollonia, the nearest village, is 3 km away — about six minutes by car. It has everything you will need day to day: excellent tavernas and cafés, a small supermarket, and the harbor where the ferry to the neighbouring island of Kimolos departs. Adamas, the island's main port and capital, is 6.5 km away and reachable in around ten minutes.
