Petrea Castle belongs to the castle's complex Troupaki-Mourtzinou of Upper Kardamili in Messinian Mani, an architectural ensemble of unique historical and aesthetic value. Built in the early 18th century, recently restored on plans by Greek Ministry of Culture, preserving with respect its historic and architectural character It has three floors including three bedrooms, a reception area, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Unique view to Messinian bay and mountain Taygetos. The stone built settlement is located in Upper Kardamili and incorporates the tower houses of the families Troupaki-Mourtzinou, Petrea, Bahleba and Boukouvala. Inside the complex is the family church of Agios Spyridonas, with the impressive bell tower and the family's graves. The castle is the oldest building in the complex and it was a residence, a barracks storehouse and watching post. In nowadays , after an exemplary renovation under the guidance of the Greek Ministry of Culture in order to preserve all its historical and architectural features, the castle is a real landmark for the region.
