The location was off the beaten path and it was nice and quiet. The host was very tentative and the girl who took us to the property was very kind and informative.

BEST location, unique property. Could fit up to 6 easily. Beach right outside, awesome rock formations and trails steps outside, also close to enough to town and also far away enough

Literally on the water in an ancient boat storage house converted to an apartment. Owner available 24 hours a day, helpful, kind, generous. Snacks, wine, milk, juice, cereal, water, coffee for coffee maker all provided. Beach toys, snorkel gear,...

The location was very remote which I loved. We had our own beach front that was very off the beaten path. Neighbors were non existent except the few hikers or people who dared to drive down the road (road is dirt and completely bumpy). The house...

This apartment was unreal -- you literally walked off the patio into a beautiful secluded cove that had clear warm waters. The apartment was beautifully appointed and charming and Katerina and her daughters were beyond hospitable. You're also a 10...

Set 1 km from Sarakiniko, Sarakiniko Boat House offers accommodation to couples and big families. Equipped with Kayaks, a kitchenette and two TVs you can enjoy the privacy of being the only house in the bay and the calmness the beach offers since it is just one step from the doorstep. Before choosing your dates please be aware of the weather as it can greatly affect your stay, and the host holds no responsibility. The accommodation is 100% eco powered as we as a family strongly support eco friendly resources especially so close to nature. This is why, even though there has not even been a capacity issue, the house does not have air conditioning. Its location however offers a pretty chill breeze even in the warmest days of the summer, so you can always sleep comfortably. Also, due to its position there is no efficient phone service and no efficient internet connection. This accommodation is called ‘sirma’ and it was used to store our fishing boats during the winter. Over time it was passed on from our fisher ancestors to us. We would like to offer it to you to take a taste of how sleeping with the sound of the waves and waking up to the most beautiful sunrises feels, away from city noise.
As a family we hold the host responsibility greatly and we would like to make you feel the most welcome. We have converted our sirma house so you can enjoy your time in Milos and see the island through the eyes of a local. In general, the "sirmata" of Milos have a lot of unknown history. In this beautiful volcanic island of the Cyclades there are the so-called "sirmata". It is a historical point and attraction of the island which you find in the coastal villages and fishing villages of the island. But what are these famous "sirmata"? This is the name of the small boat houses. They are colorful and very graphic and they immediately catch your eye as soon as you see them. These places were dug in the volcanic rocks in these coastal settlements. The colorful "sirmata of Milos" are, in addition to a historical attraction, a feature of Cycladic folk architecture. They were built in the past by the boatmen of Milos to be able to protect their wooden fishing boats especially from the bad weather conditions during the winter months. The front part is what we see, is the built facade. The back is built in a cave dug in the volcanic rocks. Basically, this cave was like a storehouse for the various tools and necessities of the fishermen. Both for their fishing and for the repair of boats. One of the strange sights of Greece has its own beauty… Each color you will see is the choice of the boatman who usually all chose the same colors.
Sarakiniko Boat house is located 1km east from the main Sarakiniko beach and 5 km from Mandrakia. Pollonia is 8km away on the east, Adamas port is 2.4km south and the airport is just 7.5 km (south) away. Even though all villages are very close the house is pleasantly isolated as it is the only house in its small bay.
