This charming, cosy studio apartment is located in a building that used to be a Renaissance palace. It is over 450 years old and is heritage protected. The back door opens onto a courtyard that has two wells, which is very rare. The building is so close to the city centre that you might be forgiven for mistaking the city square fountain for your shower, and if you mention too loudly that you want a coffee you might find a waiter at your door. Markets, cafes, ATM's and boats that will take you to the nearby islands are less than a two minute walk. If you wish to go for a longer walk, a five minute stroll will take you to the nearest swimming beach and the historic St Eufemia cathedral.
Your hostess' name is Darinka. She is a native Croatian who has lived and travelled the world and has come to the conclusion that Rovinj is the most beautiful place in the world and she would not live anywhere else. Darinka hopes to share her love and enthusiasm for Rovinj and she makes herself available for any questions and advice the guests should need. She speaks English, Croatian, a bit of German and survival Italian.
A few local tips:
Rovinj's water is good to drink.
Don't feed the seagulls, it makes them aggressive.
Don't walk and eat - the seagulls will steal your food.
The apartment is in the old city - no parking allowed, so please make allowances for that.
If you come by bicycle, there are free city bicycle parking racks about 30 meters from the apartment. Under no circumstances can bicycles be brought into the apartment.
There are good beaches everywhere, just follow the water.
If you purchase anything from shops where the salespeople stand in the street and lure you in with promises of discounts, you wont be getting a discount.
Bring cash. Many places accept cards but some small local businesses and private boat tours accept cash only.
Please respect private property and don't stand in front of doorways. It really stresses out the locals.
