In Buzet, in the Old Town, not far from the parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Stjepan Konzul Istranin was born, the first translator of the New Testament into the Croatian language. Buzet is well-known for the production of "Favorit" beer in the Buzet Brewery (BUP). On the southern side of Buzet, there is the spring of St. John: from its crystal-clear waters, the construction of the Istrian water supply system started in 1930, providing water distribution for almost the entire Istria. A replica of the Gutenberg printing press can be visited by appointment in Roč. The oldest cannon, a Venetian bombard from the 15th century, is preserved in Roč near the summer stage. Hum has interesting city gates made of copper plates with large handles shaped like ox horns. A separate attraction on the doors is the 12 medallions, a calendar that depicts works characteristic of a specific month in the year. The oldest Croatian brass band in Istria was founded in Buzet in 1905. The "Sokol" Music Society was established then and still operates today. Butoniga - the largest artificial reservoir used for water supply. Istrian Sahara – Piski, sandy areas without vegetation, can be seen on the slopes below the villages of Prodani and Krušvari. The largest lime tree in this part of Istria is located in the small village of Slum, north of Buzet. A breathtaking view of a hundred villages in northern Istria can be enjoyed from the bell tower in Vrh. Minjera (from Italian "miniera" - mine) - the oldest bauxite deposit in Europe. Bauxite was extracted in the Mirna River valley under Sovinjak in Istria over 400 years ago, and the ore was used for the production of vitriol and alum.
