Montizana is the perfect place for a quiet holiday for a family or couple. The villa has wonderful views towards the Adriatic, Dolomite mountains and Julian Alps and is very secluded but still close to Porec, the coast and inland hilltop towns. You can stroll down to visit our local donkey sanctuary - take a bag of cut-up carrots for them. We have personalised the house with my wife's artwork and selected prints of rare orchids. Look out for the love poem I wrote for her called "Under a Montizana Sky"
We are Jim and Louise Brannan from Glasgow, Scotland. We met at university in 1976 and married in 1983. We have 2 children and now a grandson who loves coming to Montizana. Villia Istria is very much our second home and we like to share it to let our guests enjoy the beautiful surroundings and we enjoy the number of lovely messages that we get from the guests who enjoy it and often return in a future year.
Istria has such a unique history having been ruled by Romans, Byzantine, Venetians, Habsburg, Napoleon, Austria, Italy and Yugoslavia before independence for Croatia. As you drive round, you will see evidence of may abandoned settlements and the influence of these rulers on the architecture and artwork of the region. The name Montizana comes from a female ruler Zana who made her seat or power on the hilltop (Monte) hence Montizana. We leave a lot of tourist guidance in the villa to ensure that you have no excuse for not exploring the local area.
