Villa Shiraz is an old stone house with infinity pool, panoramic view and a typical Mediterranian garden set in a picturesque village of Selca. It is a small temple of family memorabilia, antiques, art, books and furniture, that tells family history. The location gives you the opportunity to explore Brac island that, unlike the surrounding islands and despite the small airport, has preserved its pristine modesty and authenticity until today. It is ideal for family holiday and at the same time it gives you the opportunity to check whether the parties in Bol town, 27 km away, are realy as good as they say. The village itself is located two km from the sea and the beaches away, some of them offering entertainment facilities for kids. Although the village was first mentioned in the 12th century, today only 900 villagers live here all year round. The centre of the village is 200 m away. There is a pharmacist, general practitioner, three groceries, butcher shop, ATMs, cafe, football, handball and a tennis court. Villa Shiraz is a semi-detached stone house that was built in 1825. My parents bought it in 1971, and my husband and I renovated it and built the infinity pool in 2018. Villa Shiraz's parking area is connected with the house by a 30m long steep pathway. The other acces to the house is more disabled guests friendly, but requires driving through the narrow streets of the villlage.
I am marketing and PR professional based in Zagreb. I love antiques, art, history, archaeology. Travelling with my family and friends is my passion, especially the research and the preparations for the trips. I always write a travel diary and when the trip is over I make videos and old school albums with the detailed descriptions of the people we met, culture, customs and experiences and organize themed dinners for friends. Reading or talking about other cultures, civilizations, less known places, people, their art, music or food... this is what my family and I love. As a person who knows Brač island well I will be happy to send you right upon your reservation my own travel guide on the island with all the suggestions where to go and what to do during your stay. This will save you a lot of time and effort in preparing your trip. Wineries, restaurants with the best ambiance and food, scenic roads, interesting villages and places that should not be missed. Even those little secrets such as what to order in which restaurant and where to hear local stories about mythical creatures that make pranks on the villagers. On Brac do not expect French cuisine, but do expect the food to be finger-licking good. And I know where to find it.
The island is a food and wine lovers' destination. Croatia's most famous beach Zlatni rat in Bol town, the center of island's night life, is 27 km away. Two Adriatic Sea jewels, medieval towns and islands Korčula and Hvar are only 1,5 hour speed boat ride away. Brač is home to some of the best Croatian wineries and is famous for extraordinary lamb meat, sheep cheese and olive oil, that is listed in the world's famous olive oil guides Flos Olei. Some of island's dishes are listed as Croatia's intangible cultural heritage. There are dozens of villages, beaches and cycling routes through the pine forests or along the shore. The highest peak of all Adriatic islands, Vidova Gora, 786 m offers magnificent view of the Central Dalmatia islands. History is everywhere. A 16th c. monastery built in the hills, that can only be reached on foot, ancient stone quarries, sarcophagi from the Roman times or chapels from the Early Middle Ages. Imagine eating lobster in a swimsuit or swimming in a turqoise water under a pine tree or having dinner in a mystical, sleepy village with the history dating back to the prehistoric times, where you will be told by the locals a legend or two about the cheerful forest creatures, that still appear to this day. Should you meet them in the forest, the legend goes that you can calm then down if you offer them cookies.
