Welcome to our vintage island home in Szigetmonostor, Horány - hand-built with love and care, nestled in a quiet town on a wildlife-rich island in the heart of the Danube. Peaceful, character-filled home with soulful details, comfortable beds, and a calming energy that reflects the rhythm of the island. It's the kind of place where you can slow down, feel inspired, and truly rest. Inside, the ground floor features a spacious open-space that combines the living room, dining area, and kitchen into one inviting ambient. Whether you're cooking, relaxing, or sharing a meal, this airy, connected layout makes it easy to feel at home together. The bathroom on this level is also generous and comfortable, complete with a large walk-in shower that’s perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors. Upstairs, all the sleeping areas are arranged in one open loft space, creating a bright and sunlit atmosphere throughout the day. The natural light pours in from every angle, making it a peaceful and uplifting place to wake up and rest. Outside, one of our favorite parts is the garden. It follows what I like to call a “planned chaos” approach - a lovingly wild mix of flowers, herbs, and little corners that feel alive and free, yet cared for. It’s cheerful, full of life, and always changing with the seasons. A perfect spot to sip your morning coffee, read in the shade, or just enjoy the bees and butterflies going about their day. I’m András, and this house is a deeply personal project that’s grown into something really special. Nearly every part of it was crafted with my own hands, using recycled materials, natural textures, and a deep focus on sustainability and function. But the real magic? That’s thanks to Barbi, my amazing partner in both life and style. Her sense of style brought warmth, beauty, and balance to the space. She has an incredible eye for design (way better taste than mine, honestly) and brought warmth and charm to every corner of the space. Her support and creativity helped turn this house into a home. Our home is nestled on a peaceful island where time seems to slow down. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe, with just a few kind-hearted people who create a truly welcoming atmosphere.
