Chris and Gabi are the hosts behind GouldVilla Vendégház, brought together by a shared love of history, hospitality, beautiful spaces and the slower rhythm of life in Villány. Originally from England, Chris first discovered Villány while travelling through Hungary and immediately fell in love with both the region and the remarkable late 19th century house that would later become GouldVilla. Drawn by its history, architecture and atmosphere, he began the long process of carefully restoring the property while preserving its original Danube Swabian character and spirit. Gabi, originally from Hungary, spent much of her life living and working in the United Kingdom, including within prestigious British schools. Her warmth, attention to detail and love of welcoming people are deeply woven into the atmosphere of GouldVilla. Together, Chris and Gabi have created a guesthouse that reflects both Hungarian heritage and the understated elegance of an English country home. Many elements of the house and gardens have been personally restored, designed or planted by the hosts themselves, from the rose gardens and terraces to the carefully collected European antiques found throughout the property. Their aim is simple: to create a place that feels peaceful, personal and genuinely welcoming rather than impersonal or commercial. A surprisingly rare ambition in modern hospitality, where many places now seem designed entirely by accountants and mood boards.
