During the summer months we saw people returning at the break of dawn from the promenade, sun-tanned groups of friends enjoying a glass of wine on the grass, or having a siesta outside in the shade. The autumn and the winter brought hikers, and people who enjoyed the town's seasonal festivals (think wine, palinka, sausages :) ). What was common is that everyone seemed relaxed and found something they enjoyed in- and outside of the house. We are hoping to keep this balance up. This might be the right time to mention that we are a grown-up friendly accommodation. We love kids - that's how we know that this place is not suitable for them. I guess, it would be a bit cheesy to say that this house was a childhood dream of mine... Yet, it was. Even at a young age I was excited when we had guests, and imagined a house just like this where I would have people coming, and going, and enjoying the environment I created. Later, as life turned out, I lived and worked in Balatonfured for years. I was fascinated by it's ever-changing atmosphere, the busy summers, the sleepy winters, the charming streets, and everything it has to offer. My heart ached when we had to move to Budapest, and swore that I will return some day. ...And 34 years later here I am. Everything happened so quick. All of a sudden in 2014 November we found the empty place, started the construction works from scratch, and ta-dah...! July 2015 we opened Pastel Guesthouse. We barely got our head around the fact that we are open, we were fully booked (Cheers Booking.com!). It is everything I wished for - the summer went down like a storm, the guests were amazing, we have been showered in glowing reviews, and it has not stopped since! Balatonfured from about April until September is buzzing with tourists and visitors, that are enjoying the exceptional area. It has something for everyone; wine-cellars and vineyard tours, wonderful trekking routes, valleys and hills to be discovered, nightclubs and bars on the promenade, and of course the beaches of the lake. This region has no "off-season" period - it subtly changes and offers different entertainment in each season of the year. During the autumn people enjoyed the deserted beaches of the Balaton (yes, the sun still shines after 1st of September! :) ), and the wonderful colors of the season. The guesthouse seemed to be a haven for those travelers who wanted to get a good night's sleep, after enjoying the nightlife of Balatonfured. Most of the popular bars, bistros, clubs places are within walking distance - no need for driving or booking a cab.
