We are a small group of local people who were born and raised in Yogyakarta and we know the definition of a Javanese warmth and hospitality, and we try every day to provide our guests with that experience. We are not the most luxurious hotel that you can find in the city, but we will try to give the best service during your stay with us. We know that our guests are miles away from their home, and what they want to see is a friendly face, and we are here to give you that feeling of being home away from home.

Griya Yunika is a private house converted as a hotel with traditional Javanese decor. The hotel started operating in 2013, and just recently completed renovation in March 2026. Our concept is to bring a homy ambiance for our guests, to make them feel at home when they are thousands miles away from home. Our trained staffs have been working in hospitality industry for 4 years in average, and our first rules are giving the best service to satisfy our guest. Despite its location of being a bit far away from the city center (30 minutes walk, or 2 kms in distance) we're having the advantage of located in the middle of residence area, perfect for your getaway if you're dreaming of serene and peaceful place to stay after exploring the city.

Neighborhood info

Griya Yunika is located in the middle of residences area, only 5 minutes walk to the main street with shops and food stalls. We are easily accessible by online transportation from the train stations/airport. It is quite easy to reach numbers of main attractions in Yogyakarta, such as 20 minutes walk to the Kraton/Sultan Palace, Malioboro Street, 30 minutes walk to Tamansari Water Castle, 45 minutes walk / 10 minutes drive with a taxi to Prawirotaman Street, the most popular tourist street with restaurants and bars. There is one minimarket (Indomaret) with ATM nearby, and as for places to eat, mostly are Indonesian food stalls and it is safe to walk on your own even during the night. Banks and money changers are nearby and our staffs will happily help you to get there if necessary. Doctors on call are available 24hrs, we are in contact with a local police which is only 7 minutes walk from the property.
