Company info

Sos is the Irish word for a break — and that's the whole idea behind Sos Stays. We manage short-term rental properties across Louth, Meath, and the Mournes, looking after everything from guest communication to day-to-day care, so owners get more from their place and guests get looked after properly. We're not a marketing agency bolted onto someone else's listing — we run the full guest experience, start to finish. Every property we manage gets our concierge, Caren, on hand throughout a guest's stay for questions, local recommendations, or anything that comes up — backed by a real team who'll step in personally if something needs sorting. We started Sos Stays because too many good properties were being run without the time or support they deserved, and too many guests were left guessing what a place would actually be like. Our job is to close that gap — honest listings, easy communication, and a stay that feels looked after without feeling fussed over. Send your SOS. We'll sort the stay.

Property info

Tucked into the Boyne Valley with views of the Cooley and Mourne mountains from every room, Rathescar Grove is an easy, unhurried base whether you're passing through or settling in for a proper break. There are three private rooms here, each with its own ensuite bathroom — two comfortable doubles and a family room with a balcony, bunk beds, and space for the whole crew. Every room comes with its own kettle, fridge, toaster and microwave, so you can put together breakfast in your own time rather than rushing to a dining room. Self check-in runs from 3pm to 9pm, with no need to coordinate arrival times — and if you're landing later, just send a message and it'll be sorted. Free on-site parking, free WiFi throughout, and quiet, rural surroundings with fields and mountain views right outside the window. It's a short drive to Newgrange, Monasterboice, and Old Mellifont Abbey if you're after the history, Funtasia and Emerald Park if you've kids in tow, or Carlingford and the Cooley Peninsula if the coast is more your pace. Dublin and Belfast airports are both under an hour and a quarter away, right off the M1. Whatever the reason for the trip, Rathescar Grove is built for slowing down — no rush, no agenda, just a break when you need one.

Neighborhood info

Rathescar Grove sits in the Boyne Valley, one of Ireland's quietest corners of history — a landscape of gentle farmland, mountain views, and sites that predate the pyramids. Newgrange, Knowth, and Dowth are all close by, part of the Brú na Bóinne World Heritage complex, along with the atmospheric ruins of Monasterboice and Old Mellifont Abbey. If you're travelling with kids, Funtasia Waterpark and Emerald Park are both an easy day trip, and the Battle of the Boyne site at Oldbridge adds another layer of history to explore. For a change of pace, the coast isn't far — Carlingford and the Cooley Peninsula offer walking trails, water views, and a proper seaside town to wander. Closer to home, the Boyne Ramparts Walk is right on the doorstep for an easy morning out. The area comes alive with local events through the year too — the Louth Agricultural Show in July, the Carlingford Oyster Festival and Boyne Music Festival in August, and the Lú Festival of Light lighting up Drogheda each October. Well placed for Dublin and Belfast, but far enough out to feel like you've properly left the everyday behind — that's the Boyne Valley.
