Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway, staying in this late 1800's traditional farm cottage, in the upper heartlands of rural Ireland. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and nearby Lough Key Forrest Park, where you can enjoy walking, boating & paddle-boarding, fishing and Zipit Forest Adventures. Close to Carrick On Shannon (15 minute drive), and only 43km (35 minute drive) from Ireland West Airport (Knock). The dark skies, blanket of stars, peace and tranquillity that the cottage has to offer, is something that can only be appreciated, once you have actually experienced it and we are so grateful to be able to share this experience with you.... The cottage itself, is a traditional farm cottage, built in the late 1800's, in the small Roscommon village of Ballinameen (The village has a well respected pub (The Crossbar), with Guinness, as good as you will find, anywhere, in Ireland). It was the approximately 1985 before a small extension was erected, for an indoor toilet. Before this, there would have been an outdoor toilet, and washing/bathing and cooking, would have taken place, in the living room. Over the last 18 months, we have restored the original building, and added a new kitchen/dining room extension. Our boundaries are not fenced (just the traditional hedges, trees and raised banks), and we have a 'dogs on leads' policy, due to the local livestock, surrounding our land and our desire to keep both them and your pet safe. If you are thinking of bringing your pet with you, please contact us before booking, so that we can discuss further. We do welcome dogs, but we also have to be transparent.

The local pub (The Crossbar) is only a 5 minute walk away, and there you will find as good a pint of Guinness, as you will find anywhere in Ireland, along with some great Craic. A car is essential, if you are staying at Teachiñ Milis Moineir.
