It was originally owned by Maharaj Himmat Singh Ji of Jodhpur, the uncle of the present Maharaja of Jodhpur, Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji II, and was later acquired by Late Lt. Col. Randhir Singh of Deogarh, a distinguished Indian Army officer and 1971 war veteran. Nestled in one of Jodhpur's most prestigious residential neighborhoods, Jaswant Niwas offers a peaceful retreat just minutes from Umaid Bhawan Palace, the airport, and the city's iconic attractions. For over 13 years, I worked as a Tea Planter in the tea estates of West Bengal before returning to my hometown of Jodhpur with my family in 2009. I later had the privilege of serving as Manager (Administration) with the Mehrangarh Museum Trust for nearly six years, overseeing the administration of some of Rajasthan's most iconic heritage landmarks, including Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Mandore Cenotaphs, and Ahhichatragarh Fort in Nagaur. My years in heritage conservation deepened my love for Jodhpur's history, culture, and traditions, which I now enjoy sharing with guests from around the world. Jaswant Niwas is not just a homestay—it is our family home. We opened our doors to travellers who wish to experience authentic Rajasthani hospitality, meaningful conversations, and the comfort of staying with a local family. We believe the finest travel memories are created through personal connections and genuine experiences. My wife lovingly manages the home and is an exceptional cook. On request, she prepares authentic home-style Rajasthani meals using treasured family recipes, giving guests the opportunity to savor the flavors of our region in a warm, homely setting.
