At 80, I've lived a full life, filled with adventures of my own…and I’m convinced there’s plenty more ahead! I've tried to match the energy of my children and grandchildren but often fail. However, I feel deep within that there is still plenty of adventure left in me. I’m the proud matriarch of one of Varkala’s oldest families, which makes me, unofficially, the grandma of the entire town. Varkala is my world, a world where I am called by those around me as Varkala's Grandma. I occasionally peek outside it…mostly to confirm that the rest of the world is far less perfect. My children tease me that home renovation is my hobby, but really, it’s hosting wonderful people from all over the world. My children live abroad, but their friends - Indians and Westerners - often visit…and some have confessed they like me more than my kids! I love sharing the real life of Varkala with visitors – its hidden eateries, friendly locals, and simple joys – when I have the energy, that is.
