Dynjandi is a small farm located about halfway between Höfn and the Vestrahorn peninsula. Our goal is to offer an authentic experience of life on an Icelandic farm, of course with some modern amenities! We have our own, crystal clear water source that is collected right from the small waterfall high up on the mountain behind us. Our tap water is possibly the best water you have ever had! Our horses graze on the fields surrounding the farm, and in summer our sheep are also roaming free – it is not surprising to see them right from your room window!
Inga and Step are horse breeders and also run a company that offers private, personalised outdoor experiences – from easy hikes on and off the glacier to superjeep photo tours and ice cave tours. Any requests they cannot offer themselves, they will be happy to help you find somebody who can!
In summer, many birds nest just across the street from our farm, and the larger area is generally great for birdwatching. In winter, our location is not disturbed by lights from other buildings and a great place to experience northern lights! The clean air allows you to see the faintest stars, and even without any aurora activity the night sky can be a breathtaking sight. We are also frequently visited by reindeer! The very photogenic Vestrahorn / Stokksnes area is only 10 minutes away. The old mountain pass of Allmannaskarð gives a fantastic view over the fjords and the glaciers of Vatnajökull in the distance. There are a number of easy and more difficult hikes in the area that we will be happy to point out or take you on!
