Tanginn is your home-away-from-home. Originally built in 1913, it has been in our family since 1935 when it was bought by my grandfather. As his family grew, so did the house. Over the years, my parents and brothers, have been renovating it in the old style with some modern essentials. It's located down at the harbor with an amazing view in all directions. There are two master bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen and a living room on the ground floor. On the attic there's one room with a single bed and a sleeping area with two single beds. Crib is available at request.

We are a team of hosts, our father Karvel and four brothers. The Icelandic way of life is embedded in our souls. We are an adventurous family that loves to fish, hunt, create and build. We are very proud of our house and what we have accomplished and we love sharing it with others. We are passionate about people, that is what essentially drove us to the hospitality sector.

All year round, the harbor is buzzing with life. You can spend hours watching the local fisherman bring in the catch of the day or the people visiting the lighthouse on Súgandisey. Stykkishólmur is surrounded by thousand islands, all of them different from one another, with different type of birds, such as the White Tailed Eagle or the Puffin. Every now and then, if you are lucky, you can spot Killer Whales from the kitchen window. This is the ideal location for exploring Snæfellsnes peninsula, traveling to the West Fjords or visiting Flatey, the best island in the world according to Big 7 Travel. There's beautifully kept old houses dotted along the island, but just two families stay here throughout the winter. The ferry Baldur sails all year round over Breiðarfjörður. Tanginn is located down at the harbor next to the old down town and about 1 km away from city center. There are two restaurants very close by, Narfeyrarstofa and Sjávarpakkhúsið. Few museums, such as the Volcano Museum, the Norwegian house and the Library of Water are all in old down town. The grocery store Bónus, the sports arena, swimming pool and gas stations are in the city center.
