Born in Brescia, Alessandro Luzzago took up the chance to do some quality tests for wine production on his family's land on Lake Garda and in 1989, the year of Le Chiusure first harvest, he moved to Portese where his wife Paola reached him a year later. After some time, besides the wine and oil production, they opened a small country restaurant and two comfortable farmhouse holidays apartments. For a few years the simple but distinguished cuisine was carefully matched to the wines, until 2001, when they decided to transform the restaurant into a third apartment. The fourth apartment was added to the property in 2015. Kitchens and bathrooms were renovated in 2019.

Le Chiusure is located in the oldest part of the village of Portese, right next to the ruins of the castle, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Our apartments are part of a large 17th century rural complex, whose architectural and historic value is protected by Italian law. An old stone wall surrounds the property and protects the privacy of those that choose to spend some time at our place. At the entrance two century-old mulberry trees and a small chapel built in the 1700s introduce you to the courtyard structured in the typical fashion of rural houses around the lake. The apartments, recently restored, have kept the style of the house. From the windows you can enjoy views of the surrounding hills, the garden and the inner courtyard. Our guests have at their disposal a large portion of the garden and a small library of books and photographs describing the lake and the surroundings. Le Chiusure is also a farm that produces high quality wines and olive oil. Guests are physically close to the vineyards, the cellar and the olive groves. For those interested in our work, the harvest period and the initial processing of the grapes are the most interesting time of the year.

Portese is a small town nested in the hills of the Valtènesi, amongst vineyards and olive groves overlooking the gulf of Salò and the mountains of the Upper Garda Park. A fishing and farming town, Portese has for centuries made a living from the nearby lake and land. The lake is the principal reason for holidays in our area, mainly in the summer months when you can swim in it. Water temperature allows swimming from mid May to the end of September. The lake can also be enjoyed in many other ways. From the small port of Portese (500 m from Le Chiusure) you can take the public boat link that allows you to see the lake in a slow and peaceful way. You can also hike or bike up the hillsides, with stunning views of the lake and its surroundings, among olive groves and, higher up, chestnut and oak woods. Small sailboats, canoes and motorboats are available for hire in many locations along the lake. Lake Garda is often chosen for its central location with respect to north Italian cities where the extraordinary cultural and historic legacy is still so much part of our present. Verona, Mantua, Brescia, Bergamo, are an exceptional experience for those looking for the essence of our country.
