Located in the center of Nicosia (EN), overlooking Piazza Garibaldi, behind the Cathedral famous for its painted wooden ceiling, a unique example in Italy, a few steps from the best restaurants and shops. Nicosia is also known as the "City of 100 Churches" and the "City of 24 Barons". Walking through the center it is possible to admire in addition to the cathedral - right in front of the structure - also the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, in the upper part of the historic center, the Church of SS. Salvatore, which stands on a cliff overlooking the city, and the numerous noble palaces with imposing portals and balconies decorated with coats of arms and sculptures. The relics of St. Felix of Nicosia are preserved in the Capuchin convent. In the surrounding area you can visit the medieval Castle of Sperlinga (8 km) built on a rocky outcrop of quartzarenite nature or take an excursion through unspoiled nature in the "Sambughetti - Campanito" Nature Reserve (10 km) and/or in the "Monte Altesina" Nature Reserve (28 km) which stand out for the exceptional variety of landscapes, the wide panoramic views, the landscape value and the particular naturalistic and historical-archaeological value.
