The Marino della Fazia family has always grown vineyards in their parcels of Bufara and Foresta, in the territory of San Vito Chietino, Abruzzo, close to the Adriatic coast. The grapes were fermented in the cellar of the ancienty family building in the historic center of San Vito and, more recently, in the modern facilities of the local Cantina San Giacomo. The farmhouse in Contrada Bufara, Casa dell'Orto, has four accommodations for those who like to wake up in the green and stroll through the vineyards. We are happy to offer a bottle of our Pecorino Brut to all Guests that stay at least three days in the Casa. Upon request we can also supply our bottles, other regional and national wines or champagne in the accommodations. Those are available also at L'Enoteca, our shop in San Vito, or at La Balena, the family restaurant in Rocca San Giovanni. Interesting regional and international beers are avaliable too.

The decision to start the renovation of the Casa dell'orto, which we still consider going on, was generated from the desire of our family to enhance the farm and from my personal attention to restorations. Infact I graduated in this art that for several years I have held in Umbria, where I got to know and touch the beauty of various villages, rich in history and culture. When Casa dell 'Orto opened to guests, I took my activity as a restorer to San Vito, applying it in the recovery of Contrada Bufara buildings.

The village of San Vito linked its name to a medieval past of which remainings are located in the historical center of the upper town, the castle ruins and the walls, and to a more recent period of D'Annunzio. At the end of nineteenth century the eclectic poet and writer Gabriele D'Annunzio, born in Pescara, spent a period of his life in a farmhouse on the coast of San Vito, near the Turchino beach. In that refuge he wrote the novel "Triumph of Death", in which immortalized the coastline full of flowering broom, the trabocco and the promontory overlooking the sea where he set the dramatic climax of the novel, now called Promontorio Dannunziano. Of this period remain precisely the House of D'Annunzio (open to the public only on special occasions), the trabocco and the promontory. The latter constitutes a magnificent viewpoint of the indented coast, rich in bays. The entire area surrounding the village of San Vito is characterized by vineyards and olive trees: the very fine production of oil has brought to the town the title of Oil City.
