Apartment in Converted Barracks, Piemonte Alps
A large apartment in a former army barracks, now one of three residences on a wooded slope above a Piemonte village. Five minutes down to town on foot.
The building holds its cool through summer when the heat builds in Turin. Pellet stove for chilly nights.
Outside, old chestnut trees shade the ground. In spring the clearings turn yellow with primulas—patches of them everywhere between the trees, along with narcissi and gentians. Wild deer move through the lower woods at dawn and dusk, keeping to themselves. Red squirrels race through the chestnut canopy.
One of three apartments in the converted barracks. Simple, spacious, good for doing very little.

Will definitely be back in the springtime" Martina ----------------- "Soggiorno meraviglioso in mezzo alla natura! Marta" ----------------- "I can be very brief about Salvatore's place: everything you read in the reviews is true! It is like coming home. Sam his family and his animals (Mable, Minty, Orso and Fiuime) are really friendly. Sam gives great advise. (Pra, Barbara, Tumpe....) Follow it :-) The apartment has everything you need, clean and comfy even with two kids. We stayed for 9 days and didn't get bored for one second . Bobbio Pellice, Sam and his family (+pets) have a place in our hearts"...Benjamin
The Caserma (Barracks) is located at the foot of the Alps, a place where you will feel like you have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place where you can 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings hiking and even a dip in the river.
Your Mountain Sanctuary at the Edge of the Alps
If you are looking to escape the "tourist traps" and find a place where time slows down, Bobbio Pellice is your answer. As the last village in the valley, it feels like a secret gateway to the wild. You won't find big crowds here—just the sound of the Pellice stream, the scent of fresh pine, and some of the clearest night skies in Italy.
Why you’ll love it here:
The Morning Ritual: Start your day with a coffee at a local café, then head to the village bakery for bread made with local grain. Don’t leave without trying the mountain butter—it’s famous for a reason.
Wild Swimming: On hot afternoons, follow the locals to the "Tumpi"—natural deep blue swimming holes carved into the rock. It’s the ultimate alpine refresh.
The "Conca del Pra": Even if you aren't a hardcore hiker, you must visit this plateau. It’s a flat, emerald-green paradise surrounded by jagged peaks. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see cows grazing and feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard.
History You Can Feel: This isn't just a resort; it’s a living piece of history. Walking through the narrow stone streets or visiting the Sibaud monument, you feel the resilience of the Waldensian people who protected this valley for centuries.
A Quick Tip:
Bobbio is for people who love the quiet. It’s perfect for solo travelers looking for peace, couples seeking a romantic stone-cottage vibe, or families who want their kids to run free in nature. Bring your hiking boots and an appetite for local cheese!
