The Poets' Retreat is a newly renovated three bedroom holiday apartment to rent for your exclusive use situated on the second floor of a 16th century Cultural Heritage palazzo in the historic centre of the beautiful ancient city of Sulmona. This high-end 3-bedroom apartment with living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms (one with hydro-massage bath the other with a walk-in rain shower. The former has a bidet, the latter a hand-held bidet), 3 balconies with views across the terracotta rooftops to the mountains and a small covered terrace to enjoy the sunset over the rooftops at aperitivo time, is the ideal place for you to stay. You will also have access to the cantina (former stables) where you can safely store any luggage or sports equipment. There is air conditioning and heating with individual settings for your comfort in each of the rooms (the bathrooms have radiators only). Furnished to a high standard with beautiful antiques and modern amenities, The Poets' Retreat provides the perfect blend of comfort and elegance for your stay. During the summer period there are many events to enjoy, participate and spectate in Sulmona, however, there are a handful of nights, (particularly weekends throughout July in connection with the famous local and European Joust competition), where the small square in front of the palazzo is in use by the 'Sestiere Porta Buonomini' for fundraising events. All of the seven sestieri/neighbourhoods participating in the Joust organise similar events all over the city. On these occasions there is music and noise until at least 1am. This can be blocked out to some extent by shutting the windows and using the air conditioning. Alternatively, you will, most likely want to join in with the local revellers and immerse yourself in the festivities!
