We are proud to announce the "A&A" project, aimed at promoting art and culture in Okayama as well as revitalizing the region. This project will span approximately 20 years, bringing to life accommodations designed by a collaboration between world-renowned contemporary artists and Japanese architects within and around the historical and cultural zones of Okayama city. By staying in these accommodation facilities (artworks), guests will experience art firsthand, fostering an appreciation for the arts and aiding in the development of Okayama as a city where visitors can enjoy an artful stay. The A&A project welcomes Mr. TARO NASU, a gallerist, as its director, and architect Mr. Jun Aoki (Aoki Jun Architectural Planning Office) as an advisor, with our foundation's chairman, Yasuhiro Ishikawa, serving as the producer. Okayama serves as the gateway to the Seto Inland Sea and is the venue for the triennial "Okayama Art Exchange". It is close to Naoshima, an island globally recognized for its art, as well as the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, and Kurashiki's Ohara Museum of Art, making it a region with a rare wealth of cultural resources within Japan. Furthermore, Okayama is home to numerous notable buildings, including the Okayama Prefectural Office designed by Kuniomi Makigawa, a significant figure in modern Japanese architecture, and the Hayashibara Museum of Art, among others. To offer an experience akin to living within an art piece, the accommodations are designed to be the size of a single-family home, intended for just one group per day. By encouraging visitors to stay in Okayama rather than merely passing through, we aim to deepen their appreciation of the city's charms and increase the number of repeat visitors to Okayama.
