Company info

Hello, I'm Shintaro Minami, the owner of Masukichi. I was born and raised in Seto, where I've always been inspired by the city's rich pottery culture and strong sense of community. I created Masukichi not just as a place to stay, but as a base for discovering and falling in love with Seto. I'm always happy to share my favorite cafés, restaurants, pottery studios, ceramic workshops, and other local spots that you won't easily find in guidebooks. If you have any questions during your stay, please don't hesitate to ask. I hope your time in Seto becomes one of the most memorable parts of your trip to Japan.

Property info

[A 140-Year-Old Traditional Japanese House, Just 15 Minutes from Ghibli Park] Masukichi is a small hotel in Seto, Japan's historic pottery town, created by carefully renovating a 140-year-old traditional Japanese house. Conveniently located just 15 minutes by car or taxi from Ghibli Park, 30 minutes from central Nagoya, and only a 7-minute walk from Owari-Seto Station, it's an ideal base for exploring Seto, Ghibli Park, and Nagoya. Our goal is more than simply providing a place to stay—we invite you to experience Seto like a local. Discover over 1,000 years of pottery history, stroll through traditional shopping streets, and enjoy cafés and restaurants loved by local residents. Slow down and experience the everyday charm of Seto beyond the typical tourist attractions. We also publish local guidebooks about Seto, including "Walk Around Seto" and "Connecting Through Seto." We'd be delighted to introduce you to the hidden sides of Seto that most guidebooks never mention. [Explore Seto on Foot] Within walking distance of Masukichi are two charming traditional shopping streets filled with cozy cafés, local restaurants, pottery studios, galleries, and hands-on ceramic workshops. At check-in, you'll receive our original walking map, featuring our favorite cafés, restaurants, pottery studios, galleries, and hidden local gems. We hope it helps you discover Seto beyond the usual sightseeing spots. [Café & Seto Pottery Shop] You'll find a café loved by both locals and travelers, as well as a curated Seto pottery shop. <Opening Hours> Monday–Thursday: 8:30–11:00 AM / 3:00–9:00 PM Friday–Sunday & Public Holidays: 8:30–11:00 AM / 1:00–9:00 PM Breakfast (available for an additional charge) includes: ・French toast made with fresh local eggs from Seto ・Smoked pizza toast ・Homemade seasonal cheesecake ・Bagels from the popular local bakery.
