Each of our traditional machiya homes has been thoughtfully renovated to provide a perfect blend of modern amenities and authentic Japanese style. Slide open the entrance door to find jindai-sugi wood, an ancient fossilized wood, and artwork that reflect Kanazawa's artistic heritage dating back to the Edo period. The 122-square-meter machiya house has a spacious living room with a painted folding screen of mountain and water scenery, and a dining area and kitchen that look onto a tsuboniwa Japanese garden. Walk down the hallway, reminiscent of a traditional machiya passage, to reach a Western-style bedroom with a queen bed facing the garden and a bath area with a large hinoki cypress wood tub. The second floor is arranged into 2 machiya sections, each accessible by its own staircase. The front section includes a Japanese-style tatami bedroom accented with Kutani-ware, traditional ceramics favored by samurai and tea practitioners, and a Western-style bedroom with a king bed and an additional shower room. The back section has a Japanese-Western bedroom with tatami flooring and the option of sleeping on either traditional futon bedding or a queen bed. With 4 bedrooms in total, Itose can comfortably accommodate up to 11 guests.
