If you can only go to Shirakawa-go once, make sure you go in...
If you can only go to Shirakawa-go once, make sure you go in winter when it snows there. Do not go in the heat of summer as you have to walk from one hut to the other under the blazing sun. There is probably no need to stay overnight either. Make sure you buy bus tickets before hand. The Internet booking is hopeless, you need to buy tickets in person.

Stayed at Shirakawago Guest House Kei and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very helpful and genuinely nice, always ready to assist with anything we needed.
We were really happy with our twin room — clean, comfortable, and cozy. The location is also great, just a pleasant short walk to the main Shirakawago area, making it convenient to explore the village.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Shirakawago!

It was nice being close to Shirakawago. A quick drive away or you can walk too! The hotel was nice, quiet, staff friendly and helpful! It snowed and they brushed off our car windshield without us even asking as we were checking out -- so helpful and thoughtful. There's a little fridge in the room and a kettle. Overall clean! Space under beds to store items as well.

It was lovely to have a warm and friendly place to come home to after the Shirakawago crowds had left for the day. Being able to bring your own food in from the convenience store across the road, to eat/heat in the restaurant area, was a real bonus. Friendly and helpful staff.

The room was clean and very comfortable. Our room was on the first floor and we had a terrace that had a view of the mountains and river.
Shirakawago (heritage village) and the bus station is a 10 minute walk from the property.

They provide a shuttle bus for easy access from inside the Shirakawago city. Hotel was tidy and clear, with fresh rooms and a decent onsen.

It locates at the edge of Shirakawago village on the river bank. So we have river view, public onsen and we can access the gassho village anytime as long as we don’t disturb the villagers. We had half board meals. The food was so good with river view.
The place is clean and nice. The onsen is great too. But it is also for walk in guests.
There’s parking space too.
