As a backpacker, I have traveled to over 30 countries, staying in countless guesthouses around the world. Within Japan, I have continued my travels and gained hands-on experience working as a helper at guesthouses, particularly in Kyushu. Inspired by these experiences, I decided to create a space in my hometown of Takasaki where travelers and locals alike can come together, spend time freely, and exchange ideas and stories. With eight years of professional experience in the corporate world, I’ve also designed this guesthouse to accommodate those who might need a space for work-related purposes. Karasuya Guesthouse is a Japanese-modern inn located an 8-minute walk from Takasaki Station, in a 52-year-old building we restored with our own hands. While preserving its history as a former sake shop, we carefully renovated the interior ourselves, transforming it into a place that feels both nostalgic and new.This is "a place to play and relax as freely as a crow" — we cherish a way of traveling that embraces curiosity and an open, fair-minded spirit.Each floor has its own role: the 1st floor is a space for unexpected encounters and free-flowing ideas, while the 2nd floor offers quiet reflection and new insights.
