Kaze Box is a cozy private house in the peaceful Setouchi area of Okayama. Relax like you’re visiting a friend’s home in Japan while enjoying local life, cycling, and seaside scenery. The house is conveniently located near Onomichi and the Shimanami Kaido cycling route, making it a great base for exploring the Seto Inland Sea area. We provide 2 folding bikes, a fully equipped kitchen, free Wifi, a smart TV with Netflix & YouTube, and family-friendly amenities including kids’ tableware, toys, and a high chair. A beautiful seaside park is only a 2-minute walk away — perfect for morning walks, sunset strolls, or cycling while enjoying the peaceful Setouchi breeze. The ferry port to nearby islands such as Kitagi Island and Manabe Island is also within walking distance.
Hello, I’m Elise, your host. Even though I’ve always been terrible with directions and geography, life somehow led me through travel, studying abroad, and guiding tours in Japan and overseas. I once got lost in the mountains of Spain and spent the night with hippies, and another time wandered around central Tokyo for two hours while working as a delivery driver! But wherever I go, I somehow feel comfortable like a local — and that’s the kind of feeling I hope guests can experience at Kaze Box too. Now I live in Hokkaido with my husband, 3 children, 1 dog, and 5 cats while renovating an old Japanese house together. Our family loves hot springs, local food, and slow travel. I created Kaze Box to share the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of my hometown area in Okayama with travelers from around the world.
Kaze Box is located in Kasaoka City, a quiet seaside town between Okayama and Hiroshima. You can easily visit: Onomichi & the Shimanami Kaido cycling route Kurashiki’s historic district Setouchi islands such as Kitagi Island and Manabe Island Okayama Korakuen Garden Cafes, seafood restaurants, ramen shops, bakeries, and local markets The ferry port to the islands is only a 5-minute walk away. There are also supermarkets, drug stores, convenience stores, and many local restaurants nearby. For families with children, nearby attractions include dinosaur parks and the Horseshoe Crab Museum. Whether you enjoy cycling, island hopping, local food, or simply relaxing by the sea, Kaze Box is a wonderful base for exploring the Setouchi area.
