Hello, I am Yoko Fujikawa. Captivated by the sea and mountains of Kunisaki, I relocated here from Fukuoka in January 2025. Hoping that even first-time visitors to the Kunisaki Peninsula could experience the local nature, history, and traditional Japanese scenery, I opened "Kurino-yakata"—an accommodation utilizing the unused space of a historic private home that has been in the family for seven generations. It is a traditional Japanese-style inn located on the Kunisaki Peninsula, an area steeped in the history of the Rokugo Manzan religious culture. The ground floor features a charming room where you can sense the home's history, while the second floor offers two adjoining six-tatami-mat Japanese-style rooms. Please enjoy a leisurely time in these traditional spaces, complete with low ceilings and tatami flooring. The inn is situated near the sea, and you can view Himeshima Island from the garden. From the second floor, you can look out at Mou [Direct Booking] Kunisaki Trail & Farm Stay BBQ Plan — Shuttle, Experience & BBQ Included Book directly with Kuri no Yakata for our all-in-one Kunisaki experience — hiking, temple visits, farm activities, and a BBQ night under the stars. Drawn by the sea and mountains of Kunisaki, I relocated here from Fukuoka in January 2025. I am happy to assist visitors, hoping to share the charm of the area even with those visiting the Kunisaki Peninsula for the first time.
◎ Futago-ji Temple The head temple of the Rokugo Manzan religious culture of the Kunisaki Peninsula. It offers beautiful scenery throughout the seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, autumn foliage, and snowy landscapes in winter. The temple is home to "Seven Wonders," and every spot is a highlight worth seeing. Renovation work on the Goma-do Hall is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026. The statue of Fudo Myoo housed there is notable for its imposing, solid presence. The Oku-no-in (Inner Sanctuary) is said to bring blessings of fertility and children. A 30-minute drive away. ◎ Kunisaki Peninsula Minemichi Long Trail A trail system spanning a total of 130 kilometers. The courses follow the routes once used by ascetic monks from Usa Jingu Shrine who practiced the "Minemichi" (mountain ridge path) training on the Kunisaki Peninsula. We recommend the K1 Course, a route of approximately 10 kilometers. It offers a succession of spectacular views, including the O-fudo Iwaya (Great Fudo Cave), the ruins of the old Sendo-ji Temple, Itsutsuji Fudo, the Gormley Statue, and Iwato-ji Temple. We provide free transportation to and from the start and end points of each course. As the hike takes a full day, we can also arrange a light lunch as an optional extra upon request. ◎ Himejima Island Himejima is visible from the inn. The island is famous for the "Himejima Bon Odori" (Bon Dance Festival) held from August 14th to 16th. Gongen-zaki offers magnificent scenery where you can fully experience the island's natural beauty. Himejima is also known for its kuruma prawn (Japanese tiger prawn) farming, accounting for 60% of the national market share; the fried prawns, in particular, are exquisite. A 20-minute boat ride from Imi Port. We can provide transportation to Imi Port; please let us know the boat's departure and arrival times.
