The property is located in Takeura, a quiet coastal village on the southern edge of Shiraoi Town in Hokkaido. The area is rural and unhurried — forest, farmland, and Pacific coastline within easy reach, with very little between you and the landscape. Upopoy National Ainu Museum and Park is the region's standout attraction, about 10 minutes by car or a short train ride from Takeura Station. Japan's national museum dedicated to the Ainu - Hokkaido's indigenous people - it sits beside Lake Poroto and offers exhibitions, traditional dance performances, craft workshops, and reconstructed Ainu village houses. Well worth a half day. Hot Springs are plentiful in the area. Shiraoi Onsen near Lake Poroto is the closest, while Kojohama Onsen to the east offers open-air baths overlooking the Pacific. The celebrated Noboribetsu Onsen, with its remarkable variety of mineral-rich spring types, is about 30–40 minutes by car. Local food highlights include Shiraoi Wagyu beef, Kojohama tarako (salted cod roe), and fresh Pacific seafood. Note that restaurants and shops are limited near the property, so we recommend stocking up before arrival. A rental car gives you the most freedom, though Takeura Station connects you easily to the main sights by train.
