Our room was huge with a great view across the mountains. The Kaiseki meals were excellent and the shuttle bus to and from Sapporo was a bonus.

I had a fantastic stay at Jozankei View Hotel! The highlight is definitely the views—whether you are standing at the entrance, looking out from your room, or soaking in the open-air hot spring bath, the scenery is breathtaking. The hotel is perfectly located right next to the river. The food was also a major plus. Both dinner and breakfast offered a variety of Japanese cuisine with so many choices. It is excellent value for the money and I highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

Beautiful, picturesque stay in the mountains of Sapporo. The staff were professional and organized, allowing us to stay in their lobby with a scenic view of the snow, river, and mountains while we waited for check in. We were provided with local snacks and drinks and our room was ready 30 minutes early. The dinner was delicious and well-portioned, favorites being the steamed rockfish and pumpkin brûlée. Staff were attentive throughout the meal and offered to refill our rice whenever we were out. The rooms were spacious, clean, and stylish. We booked the suite with a private onsen and it was wonderful to soak and watch the snow fall outside. The staff also helped us reserve our taxi to the airport after check out and the overall process was very smooth.

This was the best onsen experience I've ever had. Room was amazing with a sauna and onsen actually in the room. However, it was the staff and the chef that made the stay the best ever! They took into consideration an allergy my son had to certain food type and went above and beyond to accommodate. They were all wonderful.

Breakfast and dinner was very fresh, they change the menu depending on your length of stay. The prime rib is definitely something worth going there to try. The hotspring here is the best I've to at this point.

I recently stayed at this small, cozy accommodation, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. With only a few rooms, the atmosphere was peaceful and uncrowded, making the public bath a relaxing experience without the usual crowds. They do offer private baths, but I found no need for one. Booking a private bath online seemed tricky, as the system was entirely in Japanese. Upon check-in, I was greeted with a welcome drink and snack, which I enjoyed with a lovely view. Afterward, I took advantage of their bath and booked a massage. The dinner experience was another highlight. The meal was simple but clean and comforting, and the free drink bar was a fantastic touch—offering wine, sake, and draft beer. It was all-you-can-drink, so I made the most of it! The room itself was not traditional in style but still very comfortable with cozy beds and comforters. The staff were friendly, though they seemed a bit understaffed. I had to rush to check out due to my bus schedule, but it was a bit frustrating trying to find someone at the front desk to assist me.

Very good stay as staff members were attentive and caring.

Very good stay as staff members were attentive and caring. They remember client preferences and nothing seemed too much trouble. Rooms were very clean and tidy. We would recommend this ryokan to many. The only drawback was that dinner portions were very small and we are used to ryokans serving an abundant meal in the evening. Breakfast was OK but not outstanding. So, the point of focus is on food. Service was brilliant. Every single staff member we came across did really well, were friendly and very, very polite.

A quaint mountain onsen village set in a beautiful valley.

A quaint mountain onsen village set in a beautiful valley. The town itself is walked through within a few hours, so I would recommend looking for more activities than just sightseeing if your stay is longer than two days. There appears to be several hiking trails to the mountains, and a travel company of some sort offering at least river rafting and a some other outdoor activities, from what I was able to gather. A walk to the local dam is well worth it too. Most of the stores and restaurants were expectedly closed during new-years, but the local convenience stores will make sure there's always food available.

Small and quiet town.

Small and quiet town. Our hotel is a bit away from the city, therefore it is recommended to rent a car to visit this place. From the town, you can visit Hill of Buddha, Jozankei Farm, North Safari Sapporo Zoo, Futamitsuri Bridge, Hōheikyō Dam.
