Shamba House is just outside Shela Village, 5 minutes walk from Banana House, our own hotel & wellness centre. On our large compound, or shamba as we call it, we planted many trees, plants and we grow our own organic vegetables. We, father and son, love to meet you and exchange ideas and information about Lamu Island. We created the Shamba House as an oasis of peace, being in nature, away from hectic life, simple and calm.
Banana is local Swahili man who's passion is meeting people, traveling, building houses and now growing vegetables on the shamba. Jamil, the oldest son, is also interested in organic farming, building constructions and he runs Banana House.
Our neighborhood is very quiet, spacious as you are surrounded by nature with great views on the dunes. It is 8 minutes walk through the village to the famous Peponi Hotel. You can perfectly walk from Shamba House over the dunes direct to the Ocean and the long beach , great for walks.
