The team speaks English and a bit German (et un peu de Français), advises you on all questions and also provides ad hoc freelance drivers for tours, pick-ups and drop-offs. It is only 2 km to the train and bus station and just 8 km to the airport. If feasible, there is even free early check-in or late check-out, and a free upgrade depending on season and availability.

THE ICEBEAR BEACH GUESTHOUSE is a private family residence, owned and managed by a hospitable Swiss. For 25 years it has been considered one of the nicest private guesthouses in Negombo, the team one of the best in town. This "Budget Boutique Hotel" (Lonely Planet) impresses with a wonderful view of the ocean (there is direct access), the manicured 3000 m2 garden is one of the lushest on the beach. The rooms in villa, bungalow, cottage are different in location, size, features, design and of course air conditioned. They have invitingly verandas, some have sea views and room fridges, there are also tea-making-facilities, safes and the garden pleases with hammocks, chairs, benches, armchairs to linger. The legendary kitchen of the “Icebair” beach restaurant is much appreciated, the French style “Coffetearia” popular with flaneurs. Breakfast is available until Four. Markets, bus station and city center are only a few minutes away. Bicycles, Wi-Fi, Welcomedrink, Afternoon tea, “Bhaltis”, luggage storage are free, Laundry and Ayurveda massages are available.

Neighborhood info

Lewis Place in the southern district of Kudapaduwa is the sea-side village street along the beach. Despite countless hotels, shops and restaurants, it has remained a vibrant residential area for the fishermen community.
