At "Ūši", you will find the tranquility of the countryside, the sound of the waves breaking at the shore, sunrise and sunset over the sea, the landlady’s warm hospitality and tasty meals, and comfortable, country-style lodging. You will find, as well, well tended lawns and flowerbeds in summer, unruly winds and forests full of wild berries in fall, during the winter season rows of surprisingly heavy cold weather-fronts, and during springtime never-ending masses of migrating birds underway to their summer destinations in the north, via Cape Kolka. Quintessentially this means: All’s there, which you are looking after. Enjoy! – We know you will!
By grace of fate my ancestors were given this humble estate, closeby Cape Kolka, as their dedicated place for living and subsequently, it became my home, as well. Through the centuries this estate’s character has been formed by the beauty and power of nature, and by its inhabitants’ love and never ceasing efforts. This is what makes it so immensely attractive. Standing at the edge of Cape Kolka, you will invariably feel its remoteness and get the impression to stand at the end of the world. Because of its exposed location, Cape Kolka is the only spot in Latvia, where you can watch both sunrise from and sunset into the horizon over the sea. Doing so has become a standing habit for many of our visitors, because no single sunrise or sunset equals the others. Just observe by yourself! This National Park is a nature preserve area in northern Courland that includes Kolka and the villages and settlements around it, as well. It is a paradise for lovers of undisturbed nature, who have a multitude of choices to select their individual trekking routes from. Just take your pick and enjoy nature’s variety!
