Valdemārpils is a charming small town in northwestern Latvia, located on the scenic shores of Lake Sasmaka in Talsi Municipality. The town, historically known as Sasmaka, offers peaceful walks, beautiful nature and a relaxed atmosphere throughout all seasons — from winter landscapes to blooming lime trees in summer. The area is known for its natural beauty, including Sasmakas Lake with its swimming spots and fishing opportunities, as well as walking paths suitable for families and children. Valdemārpils is also home to one of the largest and most impressive lime trees in the Baltic States, the Idol Linden (Elku liepa), estimated to be 400–500 years old. Nearby you can find local food producers, markets and cultural sites, and the popular coastal town of Roja and the historic town of Talsi are both within easy day-trip distance.
