Omar Hittouri (originally from a small town Meski near Errachidia) and Abdelhaq Omari (born in Erfoud) opened in November 2015 Riad Kafila in Essaouira. Upon arrival to Riad Kafila, they will welcome you in the courtyard, where you can enjoy a traditional mint tea as you check in. They are always at your service to answer your questions or provide you information about Essaouira, tours, daytrips or any other requests you may have.

Your Essaouira experience starts at Riad Kafila, a traditional Moroccan home, which borders the sea wall and overlooks the rocky beachscape of the northwest corner of this fortress city. Riad Kafila meaning “house of the caravan” has taken its inspiration from Essaouira itself. Once referred to as “the port of Timbuktu,” caravans from all over Africa came here to trade. The riad is a crossroads of cultures where travelers can rest, meet, and exchange stories. The riad is comprised of three floors and a stunning rooftop terrace with views up and down Essaouira’s scenic coast. The Riad is an oasis of calm only a few minutes from the many restaurants, souks, cafes and shops in the medina, and only three minutes walking from both the harbor and the kilometers of endless sandy beach.
