Morocco first grabbed me back in 2001 - and I have loved being in the country ever since. My brother has been visiting for many many more years than I. Marrakech has a magic all to itself and one of the most beautiful surrounding geographical environments I have ever seen anywhere in the world. We bought the riad in 2005 and have been loving it ever since. It has a special calm and tranquillity that I have never felt anywhere else before. We created Riad Tizwa as somewhere that we would like to visit... No fixed times for breakfast, staff on hand - but not over bearing and a beautiful display of the best of the best of Moroccan crafts within the spectacular simplicity of a historic house.
Riad Tizwa is one of the few riads in Marrakech that has had a very sympathetic renovation rather than a total destruction and rebuild - which means that it has maintained its true sense and beauty whilst incorporating the boutique feel expected from the discerning travellers. We are both very proud of Riad Tizwa being one of the first riads to have been recognised as an environmental hotel.

Our area in Dar El Basha is immediately next to one of the Kings most beautiful and historical palaces - although he has only popped in once in the 10 years, there is a magnificent set of doors and a 24 h ceremonial guard. Just around the corner on the way to the famous souk - you pass the best high quality antique shopping areas, so you are surrounded with the most beautiful artefacts and objects. A true hand luggage challenge!
