We're conveniently located for all the main must see sights of Mauritius. Just 5 minutes walk from the local village beach where you can buy street food, use the picnic tables or just enjoy the stunning sunsets. We are 5-10 minutes drive from some of the island's most beautiful beaches for snorkeling and swimming, and 15 minutes drive from Grand Baie's nightlife. You can also make the most of this traditional picturesque fishing village where you can explore an authentic side of Mauritian life. # Please note the new Mauritian Government's tourist tax of 3 euros per person per night will begin on 1 October 2025. This must be paid to the host on arrival and the host must pay it to the tax office.#
Sonya is a British teacher and writer, working from home writing theatre plays and song lyrics. She loves spending time on the beach reading and watching sunsets. Gerard is a Mauritian cabinet maker and singer who likes to cook delicious Mauritian dishes and play his guitar on the beach.
This is a small authentic fishing village just outside the main tourist area of the North. You will experience the real Mauritius such as enjoying a takeaway biriani on the local beach with the locals while watching the fishing boats. You have a good selection of beach food here at affordable local prices with big portions. You can walk to the local beach area and pick up a roti or fried snacks from the little shops on the way. On some weekends there may be a Hindu festival or a football match at the local sports field to watch. You'll see yellow birds and colourful tropical flowers in the garden. You may also see our green lizard, Paul and some chameleons soaking up the sunshine. If you wish you can book a creole evening with us to taste a traditional meal and enjoy a little live music jam. You are welcome to borrow instruments and join in. Just 5 minutes drive away is the white sandy beach of Trou aux Biches with a supermarket and some lovely restaurants. 15 minutes drive will take you to Grand Baie which is the tourist centre where you can find the main shopping malls and the buzzing nightlife.
