The place is very nice and peaceful and close to the airport. The room was very nice and comfortable. There’s a mall just 2 minutes away on the other side of the street. Staff that received us was also very nice.

Basically made a confirmed booking, I showed up and no one was there … I got duck outside the gate. Tried calling the owner severally but no one picked up. It was late s d getting dark outside .. most terrifying experience given that I was with my mum.

A spacious, wonderful residence with high quality finishes. Very helpful and friendly hosts who changed our booking to accommodate flight changes. The upstairs pool is a unique, added bonus. I relocated here for a day to stay closer to the airport, having come from Bel Ombre—a remarkably scenic area that is a must-visit for travellers. However, Bel Ombre has very few restaurants, most of which are expensive and widely scattered, making it challenging without private transport. Without a car, our experience was quite difficult—until we finally rented one. In contrast, Mahébourg is far more tourist-friendly, offering numerous dining options and a pleasant seaside setting all within walking distance. Surprisingly, the overall costs were considerably cheaper than Bel Ombre

It is close to the airport but on the coast.

It is close to the airport but on the coast. It is also close to the Bo Vallon Mall, should you need anything. I needed to buy a sim card and mall did not have a shop to do that, although it advertises Emtel shop as one of the tenants. If it is in the mall, I could not find it and I walked the whole mall twice.

Nothing was lacking

Nothing was lacking The 2nd floor villa with a balcony view to the garden and sea was private with a superb vista it had a very well stocked kitchen with excellent cooking facilities. Every attention to detail had been given with pottery and art it was aesthetically pleasing. provisions were easy to get and at short distance to obtain. what wasn’t evident from its description was its peace and privacy which for us gave the restorative and restful holiday we required.

If you want peace and quiet with a lovely view of the ocean...

If you want peace and quiet with a lovely view of the ocean and being in the real Mauritius this is the place for you. Great to have the sea breeze on the hot days and nights. Aircon in the bedrooms was bonus. Public transport is right outside if you don't have a hire car. Bars, Restaurants and beaches not on your door step - you need to drive to them but less then 20 mins away. Great to be so close to the Airport too with no plane noise. This is located in a lovely part of the island away from the thousands of tourists.

Mahebourg is a vibrant transport hub.

Mahebourg is a vibrant transport hub. The people are friendly and eager to assist in finding places and any needed information. The market is a must visit. I ate at the market food stalls and at Bo'Valon Mall.

Blue Bay is very nice place with plenty of guest houses and...

Blue Bay is very nice place with plenty of guest houses and nice beach. The only draw back is lack of eating joints. There is a nice restaurant which works only for lunch. It closes by late afternoon. You should rent a self drive car to move around in the island.

I came in with some reservation due to the wind that was considered to be a problem by other visitors. Some others were ranking the West coast over the East Coast (we were on the East Coast) but after visiting the entire island, we were very happy about our choice.

The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than...

The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than beach resorts, although admittedly there is no beach on this part of the Mauritian coast, so the area attracts a different kind of traveller. It is a rather run-down place but has considerable charm. The waterfront is a lovely (if windy) area to stroll around and the town has some interesting historical attractions - also a few kilometres away, in Vieux Grand Port, the site of the first landing on the island (by the Dutch, in 1598). One matter to be aware of concerns going out for dinner in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in the central area, many of them very welcoming and with very good food, however: - the streets are very poorly lit after dark, resulting in considerable stretches where a torch/phone light is useful; - most streets have no pavements, or very uneven/poor quality pavements where they do exist, so you have to walk in the road - watch your step and beware traffic that rushes past, often very suddenly (however, the local drivers are good at swerving to avoid pedestrians)! - unnervingly, there are large numbers of dogs roaming around on the streets - this seems to be the case all over Mauritius, even in the capital, albeit to a lesser extent. By day they are very placid and tend to shy away from people, but after dark they are often uncomfortably territorial and can be aggressive.

There are 2 things that stood out for me at Blue Bay, 1st it...

There are 2 things that stood out for me at Blue Bay, 1st it is not touristy, so nice and quite, and close to the airport, ideal if you splitting your trip up on the island. spend a few days here after you reach, only 10 mins from the airport. 2ns is the beach or Bay area is pristine, and you get to speak to the locals.
