Welcome to Casa Chuparrosas, a spacious and elegantly designed cabin in the mountains of Oaxaca. Situated 5 minutes walking distance to San Mateo Río Hondo's center, our cabin sports one of the best views in town. In the morning, the sun peaks through floor to ceiling glass panes, slowly lighting up the mountain range across the valley. In the evenings, you're welcomed home by a warm fire, bamboo sheets, handwoven wool blankets and a luxurious mattress. Our property has taken into account a level of design and comfort uncommon to this area of Oaxaca. The cabin boasts tall ceilings, plenty of natural sunlight, breathtaking views of the mountains from every nook of the property, hand-crafted furniture from the region's most skilled artisans, and specially commissioned artwork from some of Latin America's finest artists.

Somewhat “retired” to the beautiful Sierra Sur of Oaxaca, I now call San Mateo Río Hondo home, though I still travel occasionally between New England, Puerto Rico, and Oaxaca. As a proud mother of five grown children, I’ve devoted much of my life to cooking, baking, and hospitality. I studied Hotel and Restaurant Management at Boston University and later pursued culinary arts training, refining my passion for artisan pastas, fine pastries, and seasonal cuisine. At Casa Chuparrosas, I offer guests a warm, intimate private-chef-style dining experience centered around handmade food, ingredients from our garden, and the comfort of sharing a thoughtful meal at home.
