Company info

Masako: I am Japanese-American, born in California. I speak English, am relatively fluent in Spanish, with a bit of Japanese thrown in. My dream of owning a unique and magical BnB is coming true! I knew that in my retirement, I was not one to sit on a beach all day. Meeting people from all over and cooking is something that I have always been drawn to. I fell in love with Huatulco my first visit here in 2019. The people are so friendly and relaxed. The food was amazing, the beaches warm and clean, and the feeling of safety was like no other place I’d ever been. When I was shown the house, I knew we had come home! I have put my many years of event planning, catering, artwork, and service/hospitality background into my efforts to make this an experience for guests, not just a place to stay. I hope you will come to visit to have a taste (my interpretation) of the Mayan culture! Enrique: I am Mexican-American, born in Mexico City. I speak Spanish, am relatively fluent in English, and like to sing in the Mexican ranchera style. I always thought I would retire in a tropical beach area and here I am! I still can’t believe that I have a chance to live in such an amazing place. The warm waters, the kind & welcoming native people, the tranquil atmosphere, and THE FOOD! All just a few minutes walk from the villa. I really look forward to having you in our home and to share a bit of my native culture with you! Did I mention the food…?

Neighborhood info

Huatulco, pronounced: ([wa'tulko]; wah-TOOL-coh) is located in the state of Oaxaca on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. This tropical area is unique in so many ways. There are nine bays in Huatulco and the 36 beaches of Huatulco are located within those bays. Many are not accessible by land. The world-class beaches have soft, beige sands, teaming with ocean life. Snorkeling, SCUBA, and deep-sea fishing are among the many activities available. The clear, warm water is perfect for sunning and splashing in the gentle waves. In the spring/summer as the tropical rains bathe the area, the jungle bursts into life. Colorful flowers and climbing vines compete with each other to cover the forest canopy. In the drier months, the huge pipe-organ cactuses, that were hidden in the trees, can be glimpsed between the trunks. The Sierra Madre Mountain Range sits just north of the area. It offers many opportunities to visit the cooler weather sites, such as coffee plantations, towering waterfalls, & whitewater rafting (in the late summer/fall). There are also cacao plantations where you can see how Mayan chocolate pods are harvested and hand-processed in the traditional way. In the evening you have a chance to see some of the animals of the deep jungle, like the Lesser Anteaters, Kinkajoos, or Jaguarundi. Beautiful, colorful butterflies abound in the summer months. Various trees with crazy flowers, decorate the canopy year around. The mountain areas offer a cooler respite from the hotter days at the beach. Local artisans and craftsmen offer a plethora of hand-made treasures that are made in Huatulco & surrounding townships. The textiles, colorful alebrije, mezcal, & carved pottery, being some favorites.
