On the top floor of the presbytery we have furnished a cozy and comfortable Bed & Breakfast. The bedroom (with 1 king size bed), bathroom and toilet is located in the church attic, where you sleep under ancient beams. You can also book a second room. You also have access to a living room and a kitchenette. In fact you are staying in an apartment! You can enjoy breakfast -if the temperature permits it- in the monumental church room, where fresh coffee and bread, eggs, fruit and juice taste even better. You can relax in the garden next to the church tower. You can optionally order drinks at the bar in the church hall. Many guests of 1 night afterwards regret that they have not booked more nights!

We are René Smit and Gerda Blom, the founders of Theaterkerk Hemels. At the end of 2017 we bought the Dutch Reformed Church in Twisk to realize our dream: to live in a particularly monumental building and to offer space for creativity and connection. This ambition together with our (work-)experiences in music & theater made this versatile place in the heart of Twisk. In the theater church, music, theater, ceremonies, meetings and overnight stays are gathered under one roof. We want to offer our guests a special experience and are happy to tell about the monumental church, the organ and sights, restaurants and cycling routes in the area.

The monumental village of Twisk was chosen in 2019 as the most beautiful village in North Holland. There are two churches (including Hemels), a late Gothic church and many old farmhouses. Many houses are only accessible via a picturesque bridge over the village ditch. The village has one of the highest concentration of old farms in the Netherlands and there are around fifty national monuments. Walk through the village with a village guide and let the history and details of the beautiful buildings tell you! During the summer season the Hoorn-Medemblik steam train stops at the station of Twisk, a special experience. From Twisk you can make nice trips to historic cities / towns such as Alkmaar, Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik, and also the Afsluitdijk, the Wadden islands, the IJsselmeer and the North Sea beach are worthwhile. Or take a day trip to Amsterdam (45 minutes drive) ....! There are many restaurants in the area and there is also a lot to do culturally. Including concerts (approximately once a month) in Hemels itself .. So for hiking, cycling and touring, Twisk is a wonderful base and place to stay!
