We would like to welcome you to our Apartment Soerte Es. Our farmhouse is situated on a quiet street outside the village Wapse aan de es. The spacious apartment is located on the first floor. You park your car at our yard and you have your own front door to the apartment. In addition, you have a private seating area outside in the garden. Wapse borders the Drents Friese Woud and is a short distance from the National Parks Fochtelooerveen, Dwingelderveld, Holtingerveld, Havelterberg en the Weerribben/ Giethoorn. In the area you can experience a unique piece of history of the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid in Frederiksoord and Veenhuizen. The Shakespeare Open Air Theatre in Diever is only 4 km away and is a true addition to your visit. Furthermore, the surrounding villages of Diever, Vledder, Dwingeloo and Havelte offer various facilities such as outdoor swimming pools, golf courses and surprising museums.
Liesbeth has a background in hospitality services and has worked there for many years with great pleasure. In 1994 we bought this farm in Wapse. We turned it into a farmhouse in a number of years. The former front house was 'left over' and we made it suitable to receive guests. In 2003 we started with "Bed & Boterham". Because we, Harry and Liesbeth, also work for an organisation elsewhere, we are no longer able to take care of breakfast. Since 2020 it is called Appartement Soerte Es. We like to work on our own yard in the garden and with various other jobs. In addition, we love cycling in our own country.
A lot of history can be experienced in the immediate vicinity of Wapse. Such as an urn field from prehistoric times and the famous Hunebeds in Diever and Havelte. A special piece of history took place around Frederiksoord: the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid. Suzanna Jansen's now famous book about the Pauper Paradise and the Theatre Spectacle in Veenhuizen about this history is highly recommended for viewing and experiencing. The Shakespeare Theatre in Diever gives performances in the outdoor theatre in the summer and in the winter period there are plays in the Globe, behind the outdoor theatre.
