Camping on an uninhabited island in the Netherlands
In the middle of the lake Veluwemeer, near Harderwijk, lies a small island, called ‘De Kluut’. On this uninhabited island you are invited for an excellent holiday in the middle of untouched nature with a magnificent water view.
A small part of this island has been developed into an attractive campsite, where you can stay and relax for a while. You can choose to spend the night in pre-arranged, authentic tents such as Tipis, the well-known Indian tents, Yurts, Nomad tents from Mongolia or Bell tents.
There is no need to carry around camping equipment, but every comfort will be provided so you can enjoy the simplicity and care freeness of the outdoor life. Whether you like water sports, enjoy seeing your kids playing in the nature, meeting other people, or simply relaxing in a hammock, this uninhabited island has much to discover and experience!
There is a large tent with tables and benches, and a kitchen for general use. On rainy days, this is a great place to stay, play games together, or engage in creative activities. There is also a cozy seating area with a large wood stove where you can sit comfortably and warm.
A large tipi is the place to gather when the weather is less good. In this Tipi Lounge, you will find a social atmosphere to interact with others through games or chatting around the camp fire. There are also books and magazines to read and for children materials to express their creativity. Or you can choose to relax in one of the hammocks. Chopping wood, make a fire, roast marshmallows, telling each other stories or playing the guitar while enjoying a good glass of wine around a comfortable fire…can you picture this?!
Of course there is an excellent sanitairy building with 4 hot showers, toilets including paper and sinks. There are also two communal fridges and electricity to charge mobile devices. Our ferry sails four times a day to Flevoland from where you can make all kinds of day trips.
There is plenty to do around and on the lake Veluwemeer. Sail easily and quickly with our ferry to the mainland for a day out.
WATER SPORTS ON THE LAKE VELUWMEER
On the Flevoland side of the Veluwemeer you will find numerous beaches, cozy marinas, fishing opportunities and beautiful mooring places. Right at the beach the water is very shallow. Ideal for families with small children, surfers, rowing boats, pedal boats and canoes. Water skiers and speedboats have their own sailing areas.
