Situated at the picturesque Platte Stenenbrug our Guest House is the ideal location for a short stay in the beautiful town of Alkmaar. We offer two wonderful apartments which, when booked together, form an ideal group accommodation. Guests from both apartments enter the front door on the ground floor. Located on the first floor is a shared hallway with lockable doors leading to the living room/first bedroom, second bedroom and bathroom of apartment Aoife. Apartment Érinn can be entered through the last lockable door which leads to a stairway to the second floor. Our apartments are located in a monumental building and the original floorplan leaves no other option. Of course, both apartments have their own unique keys which are not interchangeable.
Welcome to Gunnery’s ''Irish” Guest House. My name is Sharon Rooker-Gunnery, born and bred in Dublin, Ireland and living in this beautiful town of Alkmaar for the last 29 years. In 2007 my husband and I opened Gunnery’s Irish Pub which is situated under the Guest House. It is a warm and welcoming home from home pub and the “craic” is always great with locals and tourists alike. To add to this atmosphere we decided to open a Guest House in 2022. We have created a place where families and groups travelling to Alkmaar can relax and enjoy the comforts of home in the city centre, have a Guinness, a bite to eat in the pub or on the terrace and enjoy a real Irish breakfast when they wake up the next day (available till 8 p.m. in the pub!) so no rush. 😊
All major sights the old town of Alkmaar has to offer are in walking distance from the guest house. The 'Waag' and the 'Waagplein', location of the historical local cheese market, is just 200 meters away. We provide guests with a printed newspaper and a digital map of all facilities in Alkmaarr on their arrival at our Guest House. We are also, only a half hour train journey away from Amsterdam Central and a 20 minute drive to surrounding beaches such as Bergen aan zee, Egmond aan zee and Castricum.
